The Strange Case of the Missing Sheep

Posted by 無糖甜點 at 8:06 AM 0 comments
Description:
1, 2, 3 . . . hey, where'd all the sheep go??

In a place called Happy Valley, there live ten sheep. Every night, the ten sheep are counted into their beds by one Super Sheep Dog named Doug. But one day, the sheep are missing! Who could have stolen them? Might it be Wolf, who lives in the Dark Forest? And for what nefarious purpose? Does he want to knit them into a blanket? Bake them into a pie? Or maybe he wants to . . . count them?

With kooky, creative illustrations and an unexpected ending that will get kids giggling, this is a lively story about the fun of counting .. . and a bedtime surprise.

written by Mircea Catusanu
ISBN:9780670011315

Comments:
Mircea Catusanu's THE STRANGE CASE OF THE MISSING SHEEP is inspired by true events and tells of ten sheep last seen entering a mysterious dark woods. Doug, the Super Sheep Dog, is on the case in this fun mystery for ages 3 and up that blends in basic counting.

Very odd story. The illustrations are fun, but the various labels and assorted miscellaneous text are distracting. It's a short story and fun to read aloud, if you don't get too sidetracked. Otherwise, it's a good book to look at the pictures and point out the things you see.

The Necromancer

The Necromancer
Written by Michael Scott

ISBN: 978-0-385-73531-5
Description:
San Francisco:
After fleeing to Ojai, then Paris, and escaping to London, Josh and Sophie Newman are finally home. And after everything they've seen and learned in the past week, they're both more confused than ever about their future. Neither of them has mastered the magics they'll need to protect themselves from the Dark Elders, they've lost Scatty, and they're still being pursued by Dr. John Dee. Most disturbing of all, however, is that now they must ask themselves, can they trust Nicholas Flamel? Can they trust anyone?

Alcatraz:
Dr. Dee underestimated Perenelle Flamel's power. Alcatraz could not hold her, Nereus was no match for her, and she was able to align herself with the most unlikely of allies. But she wasn't the only one being held on the island. Behind the prison's bars and protective sigils were a menagerie of monsters-an army for Dee to use in the final battle. And now Machiavelli has come to Alcatraz to loose those monsters on San Francisco.Perenelle might be powerful, but each day she weakens, and even with Nicholas back at her side, a battle of this size could be too much for her. Nicholas and Perenelle must fight to protect the city, but the effort will probably kill them both.

London:
Having been unable to regain the two final pages of the Codex, Dee has failed his Elder and is now an outlaw-and the new prey of all the creatures formerly sent to hunt down Flamel. But Dee has a plan. With the Codex and the creatures on Alcatraz, he can control the world. All he needs is the help of the Archons. But for his plan to work, he must raise the Mother of the Gods from the dead. For that, he'll have to train a necromancer. And the twins of legend will make the perfect pupils. .

Comment:
This book is so cool! Mad Molly O'Maggot and Scurvy Stink are going to Ocrcacoke Island. But not until they get on the Island, they don't know it's actually Pirate Island. They meet a funny pirate of the name Scurvy Sam. Scurvy Sam tells them there's a treasure hunts. Mad Molly O'Maggot and Scurvy Stink are so excited.
The next day the treasure hunt starts. The winner gets a gold doubloon and a ride on the ship `Queen Anne's Revenge Two'. As Mad Molly O' Maggot and Scurvy Stink start getting clues, they notice that Smart Girl and Tall Boy are spying on them. They get all different kinds of clues that lead them to the end.
For sure, there's a happy ending! Mad Molly O' Maggot and Scurvy Stink win and they share the winning prize with someone else!If you want to know who, you have to read the story. This is wonderful and funny. Kids will learn how to share their happy, not jealous.

Veteran storyteller Osborne builds the power of reading into the story: it's the books in the tree house that give the kids the magic to travel and see far, far away."--Booklist.

Comment:
I like it because it has lots of dinosaurs in it and my favorite part is when they start to go in to the time of the dinosaurs, because I like when the tree house begins to spin and the wind starts to blow!!
